Learning not to flinch

Since the start of the free newspaper boom in London I’ve become completely immune to people thrusting things at me on the streets. I’m starting to think this could be a serious problem. Normally when someone thrusts something at me, I recoil, but now I’m trained I walk on by with no reaction. What happens when those things being thrust at us commuters turn out to be knives not papers? We’re all doomed. I think Murdoch and co are planning on wiping us out, but first they have to train us not to react to being attacked.
