St. Martin’s in the Fields, the church on Trafalgar Square is undergoing some major works. This morning whilst cycling to work I was surprised to see an enormous advertising hording on the scaffolding of the church. The hording is angled to be clearly visible to everyone in Trafalgar Square and has the new Intel Core Duo ad on it. Now this strikes me as quite ironic. The church was once a global brand, had incredible wealth and almost everyone had a bible in their home, or at least access to one. Nowadays though Intel are a far bigger brand, have more money and almost everyone has a computer in their home or access to one. And when Intel can pay to have their advertising on a church it can only be a good thing - finally rational minds are winning out over blind faith in the supernatural.
The new religion
