This company kept the £420 I paid for a 3 day rental after the owner refused to let me take my dog and they failed to find another motorhome for me. They passed none of the money onto the owner and kept it all for themselves. I am now suing them.

Their attitude and methods of doing business are unacceptable. Do not use this company.

Glad of this site as I am staying away from this company. Did look at the Xplore – it site as is suggested and was impressed but find the same thing with many of the insurance cover on the vans, they will not cover the top, or bottom, of the van under insurance? I can handle the tires, windscreen not covered but the top and bottom. Thinking of http://www.motorhomegroup.com/hire/index.asp who hire private vans out.

I received my 750 Overseas Security Bond back today.
6 months after I finished my trip.
That isn’t really good but ok.

750 pounds owed to us for the bond for motor home.
We returned van cleaner than we received it we had no traffic fines(according to owners) we have tried and tried to get our bond back but to no avail. Given up to the point we have cancelled credit card so we don’t go down the same road as previous hirers. Money taken instead of returned. BEWARE! We are from New Zealand and have no clout now in the UK. Can’t knock on their door. Very bad taste Motorholme.

my problems with MotorHolme are the same like Montse .
I miss my Security Bond since 3 months (august 2009).
Waht can I do ?
Have anybody an idea or a good advocate or jurnalist ?

i am surprised to read all the negative comments as I have just completed a hire through motorholme and found the whole experience very helpful. As a 1st timer i was anxious but would certainly use them again. If I had read these comments first I would probably have avoided them but am glad I did not.

Whatever you do dont hire from this company, took the motorhome back in tip top condition and was checked over by the owner and agreed it was fine, suddenly the next day we were told we have a bill for over £1300!! for “minor minor” (their words!) damages, we contested this via email and were assured we would have a fair hearing but lo and behold 3 weeks later they took over £1300 out of our accounts with no explanation, we phoned them and asked what was going on and they said we had damaged it badly and it got repaired, we asked about our email which explained our side of it and the lady did not have a clue about it because her colleague had lost the email, but she said its too late now!!! obviously I have the email and were trying to mount a legal challenge against them. Shocking Service and very expensive in the first place when we hired but as it was 5 of us it was ok. We feel the owner has collected minor issues over the last year and chose us to claim we did the damage so it does not cost anything for him to replace. He was even telling us he was struggling to meet the loan repayments on it!!

I have hired campervans before but never been treted like this DONT USE THEM!!!
